Description
International star of stage and screen, Rosamund Pike, takes the lead role in Ibsen’s classic, HEDDA GABLER, during a week long run at Theatre Royal Brighton from Monday 8 – Saturday 13 March. The play visits Brighton as part of a UK tour prior to a West End run.
One of our leading actresses, Rosamund Pike is best known for her film portrayals of Bond villainess Miranda Frost in Die Another Day and Jane Bennet in Pride and Prejudice with Keira Knightley. She also recently played the title character in Madame De Sade opposite Dame Judi Dench, during the Donmar's sell-out West End season.
Hedda Gabler is one of theatre’s most irresistible heroines - thrilling, enigmatic, immoral and destructive - and one of the most vividly realised women in dramatic literature.
In HEDDA GABLER, the newly-wed Hedda Tesman is bored with married life to her scholar husband, George. She finds herself caught between the brilliant but dissolute Eilert Loevborg and the clutches of the predatory Judge Brack. As a shocking path of destruction unfolds, there can be only one outcome.
Rosamund is joined by a stellar cast which includes Tim McInnerny, who played Lord Percy and Captain Darling in Blackadder, Robert Glenister, star of the BBC’s Hustle and Spooks and Anna Carteret, best known for her role as police inspector Kate Longton in the BBC TV series Juliet Bravo.
The creative team includes former Artistic Director of the RSC, Adrian Noble, who is one of the world’s great directors of Ibsen. He is joined by Anthony Ward (designer) and Mark Henderson (lighting) who, between them, have won numerous awards on both sides of the Atlantic.
